The interior decoration of the walls using panels under the tree allows you to create an exquisite interior no worse than when using natural wood. Significant savings in this case brought the technology of facing with artificial wood panels to leading positions.
A more professional approach to decorating requires a competent project, which can be ordered at design studios. As a budget option, you can choose a suitable design on special resources or in booklets and implement it at home.
Features of the use of artificial wood panels
There are many ways to use wood-based panels, which is why it is worth highlighting the most practical and popular of them.
Horizontal mounting method. With this installation of the cladding, it is very convenient to integrate internal insulation into the walls. In addition, the room made in this way visually expands and lengthens due to the horizontal lines of the panel mount. Usually in this way a special part of the room is emphasized and highlighted: the working area, the head of the bed, and the resting place. Horizontal mount is the most popular in residential construction.
The method of vertical fastening of the skin. With this installation method, it is easiest to emphasize the rigor and presentability of the interior, which is why it is most often used for work areas and offices.
The method of full or partial cladding involves the decoration of not only the walls, but also the ceiling. In some cases, the decoration of the ceiling and walls (or one of the walls) provides an amazing textural unity, hides the flaws of the room, gives a complete style.
The option of mounting plates at different levels (from 1-2 to 4-5). Plates are installed in several layers, making up a three-dimensional, embossed picture.
The method of smoothing with thin plates under the tree of obvious defects and unevenness of the wall.
Creation using panels of arches, partitions indoors and multi-level ceilings.
Facing with slabs under the wood of fireplaces (previously it is necessary to treat it with a fire-fighting solution).
Varieties of facing materials
Depending on the installation location, the panels are:
- wall (such plates are resistant to mechanical deformation, it is easy to care for them);
- ceiling (these plates better resist moisture and are simply mounted).
Panels under a tree, regardless of whether they are wall or ceiling, are divided into:
- MDF panels;
- glued wood panels;
- cork type;
- chipboard panels;
- rack type.
Glued wood panels in their functional parameters are not much inferior to natural wood, except that the texture pattern is less clear and pronounced, while they cost much less.
MDF panels have good heat and sound insulation, are durable and resistant to mechanical stress, are not afraid of temperature changes. By virtue of their positive characteristics, they are used for interior decoration of residential buildings, as well as offices and offices.
Cork type of panels refers to the category of expensive wall cladding materials. The cork is hypoallergenic, does not absorb dust. It is saturated with a solution that prevents decay and mold, so it can be used even in the wettest rooms. The cork has a special structure that provides good air circulation. The material improves the microclimate, provides good heat and noise insulation in the house.
Slatted panels are very large (up to 3 meters), which allows fastening without joints, so they often finish the ceiling. Outwardly, this material is very similar to lining. Mounting is done using mounting brackets.
Particleboard / fiberboard wall panels - this is the cheapest and easiest to mount material, which ensured its high popularity among the general population. Nevertheless, this material is most impractical, because it does not tolerate moisture, has a loose and fragile structure, and is rapidly deformed.
In addition, almost each of these materials can be presented in several varieties, depending on the method of processing the top layer:
- lamination (in addition to gaining a decorative glossy surface, the material becomes more protected, it is used only for MDF);
- veneering (in this case, a veneer made of natural wood is applied to the top layer of the material, which gives the panel a very attractive appearance);
- varnishing (best suited for natural wood, enhances its water resistance);
- leatherette trim panels;
- processing using carved reliefs and drawings;
- overhead decorative details (rhinestones and crystals).
Installation and maintenance
Wall tiles imitating wood are extremely convenient to mount. Provided that the surface of the walls is even, it is enough to simply put them on glue or attach them with nails, a stapler or clamps.
However, perfectly smooth walls are a rarity, so most often the panels are installed on the crate.
The frame provides an additional opportunity to lay between the plates and the wall of communication, hiding them from public viewing.
Wall plates have 2 ways of fixing:
- groove-comb method, providing for the snapping of plates into one another, with the provision of a perfectly smooth surface;
- groove-groove method, which provides for the connection of individual plates using a special joint (this adapter also plays a decorative role).
Finishing work is usually done with the help of special corners, skirting boards, G-profiles, platbands, edging, which complete the stylistic unity of the wall elements of the lining.
Caring for the panels is very simple: just wipe them with a sponge moistened in a washing solution (with especially strong contamination), or plain water. Do not use mechanical cleaning agents like acids, abrasives, solvents, because they can severely deform the surface, making it unsightly.
Finishing the interior walls with wood-like panels is very durable, because they will not fade (unless of course you "help" them by washing them with a solvent or acid) and burn out. This wall decoration is absolutely safe, which is why wall and ceiling wood-like panels are used both in the corridor, kitchen and living room, and in recreation areas, bedrooms and children's rooms.
